Opera Queensland is set to launch a new production of Leonard Bernstein’s comic operetta Candide in the QPAC Playhouse from Thursday July 23 to Saturday August 1. OperaQ artistic director Lindy Hume directs an all-star cast including one of the country’s best-known opera and stage performers, David Hobson, as the eternally optimistic Candide and Amelia Farrugia as his lover Cunégonde. This musical comedy is packed with satire, philosophy and great music, as well as wonderfully creative costumes and set design, including a golden road stretching into the first rows of the audience.
