Buddha Birth Day Festival

Buddha Birth Day Festival

From meditations to art and craft, cultural and band performances to late-night fireworks, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy at this year’s Buddha Birth Day Festival.

Running since 1997, the Buddha Birth Day Festival has grown into one of the largest annual Buddhist Birth Day Festivals in the world and this year we are proud to be celebrating its 19th anniversary at South Bank Parklands. Showcasing the diversity of Australia’s multicultural society, visitors can enjoy displays, performances and experience many cultural customs and activities and food. It is a festival for everyone, regardless of age, religious or cultural backgrounds.

Program highlights include:

  • Celebrity cooking displays
  • Food markets
  • Kids’ cultural art area
  • Chinese lion dancing
  • Traditional tea ceremonies
  • Dragon Boat regatta
  • Chinese lantern display

The event will conclude with a riverside fireworks spectacular on Sunday 3 May from 7:30 pm.
