75 Years of Memorable Music

Brisbane City Hall will swing with a 1940s celebration to celebrate 75 years of free concerts with 75 Years of Memorable Music.

The main auditorium will become a dance hall with a showcase performance by the Empire Swing dancers to music by one of Australia’s most sophisticated swing bands.

Seventy-five years ago Council officially established a civic concert program that is now called the Clem Jones City Hall Concerts.

You are invited to come along and get in the mood. Arrive early, dressed in 1940s style and take ‘selfies’ with your friends in the themed photo booth before getting the best spot in the auditorium to dance.

This occasion will begin with a specially commissioned processional on the Henry Willis Organ by Brisbane-born William Lovelock, Australian composer and music educator.
