Watch Australia’s best short films at the West End Film Festival

Now in its sixth year, The West End Film Festival has become one of Brisbane’s best independent, small-scale film showcases and it is on again for 2015 on Sunday May 31.

The West End Film Festival is a special night that celebrates the bonds of community and the magic of film once a year. The festival was established in 2009 by a small group of filmmakers to showcase the best offerings from Australia’s short film community. Short films are a niche aspect of the filmmaking industry, yet with the success of festivals such as TropFest and the St Kilda Film Festival it is apparent that the condensed medium is as popular as ever.

Hosted in a large urban space located behind the Rumpus Room on Russell Street, the West End Film Festival offers a relaxed outdoor theatre experience where the best dramatic, comedic and animated shorts are screened. The program of films has been selected based on artistic and technical merit as well as audience connection and overall impact. Five awards will be presented at the 2015 festival for Best Film, Best Industry Film, Best Community Film, Best Animation and the Indigenous Filmmaking Award. Be sure to check out the films selected and purchase your tickets now.
