Relive the 1990s with the sounds of Weezer

If the words ‘hip hip’ being sung to the carefree strum of an electric guitar and steady drum beat send you back a decade to 2001 when ‘Island in the Sun’ was released, you may be pleased to know Weezer is returning to Australia after a 16-year absence.

After forming in the 1990s, the four lads from California pioneered the alternate-rock genre and, after the release of its self-titled album in 1994 and the follow-up offering Pinkerton in 1996, became an icon of the decade that rounded out the 20th century. Weezer toured Australia following the release of Pinkerton, but failed to return to our shores, despite releasing several more albums in the years since.

Weezer has developed a tradition of playing its albums in full during its shows and this will continue during the Australia tour, when The Blue Album will be performed for fans, along with a selection of the band’s greatest hits, at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre this Sunday January 13.
