Unrepresentative Swill transforms our prime ministers’ words into song
Political musings and musical creativity merge in this bold new production that takes the words of our nation’s leaders and marries them with song.
Politics and musical artistry rarely go hand-in-hand, that is until Queensland’s own Topology and award-winning choir The Australian Voices get involved. Unrepresentative Swill, a bold, one-of-a-kind production, takes a bunch of Australian prime ministerial speeches and presents them in the most entertaining way possible: to an overlay of instrumental music and angelic choral work.
Composed by Topology’s masterminds, Robert Davidson and John Babbage, and conductor and live music producer, Gordon Hamilton, Unrepresentative Swill features some of the most powerful words that have helped shape our nation, from Menzies’ Declaration of War and Whitlam’s Well May We Say; to Rudd’s Apology, Abbott’s A Stain on Our Souls and Gillard’s Misogyny speech.
Narrated by author, TV personality and all-round funny man, Adam Spencer, this fascinating, thought-provoking performance is possibly the most enthralling history lesson you’ll ever have. Unrepresentative Swill is playing for at QPAC one night only on Wednesday July 29 as part of the Queensland Music Festival.
