From July 4 to October 11, The Photograph and Australia will showcase over 650 images from renowned artists connecting photography and identity.

Drawn from more than 35 private and public collections, The Photograph and Australia is a comprehensive look at the growth of Australia from the 1840s until now. 120 artists will have photographs exhibited alongside everyday memorabilia such as postcards and family photo albums from across the decades. The exhibition looks to explore the connection between photography and place, culture, history and people.

Artists on display include Richard Daintree, Charles Bayliss, Harold Cazneaux, Olive Cotton, Max Dupain, David Moore, Carol Jerrems, Robyn Stacey and dozens more. During the opening weekend at GOMA on July 4 and 5, the gallery will host talks with exhibiting artists and tours of the exhibition by senior curators.
