The Missing Peace pops up in Fortitude Valley

The Missing Peace pops up in Fortitude Valley

What if you didn’t take that risk? Would it always linger in the back of your mind? It was these questions that Damon King pondered before quitting his job and making painting a full-time passion.

He spent the next three months painting non-stop, before holding his first exhibition. Inspired by the positive feedback, he set off for New Zealand in search of stimulus and fresh ideas in the realms of street art and installation.

Bringing back cuprocking and fragments of ideas for interactive and installation art, Damon decided to take the next step (or rather jump) into opening his own pop-up gallery.

Situated on Ann Street in Fortitude Valley, The Missing Peace Street Art Gallery space is part gallery, part studio, with Damon using a range of different mediums on old records, fence palings and artist palettes to create his ever-evolving works to show in the space.

With rooms dedicated to installation art and interactive elements like a corrugated iron wall for tagging and writing on, there’s also a room where local artists of any style can showcase their work for free.

Open for three months, this relaxed, inviting gallery is a great space for making, viewing and discussing art.
