New live-music hub The Foundry opens in Fortitude Valley

A massive two-level venue comprising a 300-person live-music room, rock’n’roll bar, collaborative space and 20 creative studios is opening in Fortitude Valley this Friday March 6.

Brisbane’s music scene is set to receive a welcome boost this month as its newest live venue and collaborative creative space opens on Wickham Street. The folks behind pioneering venues like Sydney’s The Standard BowlVic on the Park and Tokyo Sing Song have now dreamt up The Foundry, a creative music hub in Fortitude Valley. Designed and built by musicians, the new venue will satisfy the cravings of fans, bands and industry agencies alike.

Grab a cold beer in the bar previously known as The Elephant Hotel’s Master Room, shoot some pool or take your tipple out to the beer garden. Gig-goers can filter into the adjoining live-music room accommodating up to 300 punters, while bands can crash upstairs free of charge or make themselves busy in one of the many rehearsal studios. What was previously a spray of backpacker rooms has now been converted into an office space for local booking agents, publicists, street press, blogs and 4ZZZ.

The Foundry will open with an official launch party tomorrow night, Friday March 6, featuring Velociraptor, SPOD and White Lodge, while acts like Rolls Bayce, Babaganouj and WAAX will be playing over the next month. Check out the gig listings via Facebook and contact details on our Stumble Guide.
