The Drones migrates to The Tivoli, Fortitude Valley
Rather like a family of gypsies, the members of Australian band The Drones seem to have adopted nomadic tendencies in their years together. The five piece consists largely of Perth locals, who now reside in Melbourne and continue to travel the country (and world) playing the band’s alternative rock melodies.
Since its beginnings in 1998, The Drones has changed its members as the group moved around the country. But today’s line-up currently includes Gareth Liddiard, Fiona Kitschin, Dan Luscombe, Mike Noga and Steve Hesketh. The band first came to the notice of fellow countrymen with its 2005 album Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By, which won the inaugural Australian Music Prize.
Throughout April, the group will travel its latest release around the country with the I See Seaweed Tour. This trek will see The Drones return to the touring scene (and the stage) after an absence of two years. The Brisbane leg of the tour will play to crowds at the intimate setting of The Tivoli on Friday April 12. Melbourne group King Gizzard and the Lizzard Wizard joins the nationwide tour as support.
