TWE The Spanish Film Festival

Spanish Film Festival fiesta begins at Palace Cinemas

Fluent Spanish speakers, as well as those whose most commonly uttered Spanish phrase is ‘yo no comprendo’, can come together to soak in the language, culture and stories of this year’s Spanish Film Festival from May 1–14.

Spread across Palace Barracks and Palace Centro Cinemas, the Brisbane leg of the Spanish Film Festival begins Thursday May 1 with its opening night screening of Living is Easy with Eyes Closed, and ends on Wednesday May 14 with Witching & Bitching. While the opening night screening will depict a 1960s tale of John Lennon’s visit to Almería, the closing night feature will bring dark humour to the screen when a coven of evil witches becomes violent.

Highlighting a stimulating sample of Spain and Latin America’s best Spanish-language films – alongside a collection of international co-productions – the festival’s features will include Barcelona Summer Night, Alpha, Tasting Menu, Three Many Weddings and Zip & Zap and the Marble Gang. Opening and closing night festivities, as well as Q&A sessions, which will take place throughout the festival.
