Salmon Fishing in the Yemen sees dreams come true

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen sees dreams come true

While its title may read as a seemingly bizarre documentary about fishing for salmon the middle of the desert, Salmon Fishing the Yemen is actually a heartwarming tale based on a fictional novel of the same name by Paul Torday.

With a dream floating at the forefront of his mind and endless amounts of money at his disposal, Sheikh Muhammad calls upon Britain’s leading fisheries expert, Fred Jones, to help realise his vision of making salmon fishing in the Yemen a reality.

As his name may imply, Fred Jones leads a rather black-and-white existence dominated by a stable routine, science, and fish. While Fred is initially reluctant to partake in the project, a stern nudge from the government powers that be sees Fred jetting off to the Yemen and placing his trust in faith, rather than science.

Ewan McGregor stars as the affable Fred, Emily Blunt stars as his charming colleague (and, you guessed it, love interest), and Kristin Scott Thomas plays a quick-witted press secretary in search of a headline-making good news story.

Salmon Fishing the Yemen will be in cinemas from April 5.
