TWE Romeo & Juliet

Romeo & Juliet graces the QPAC stage

History’s greatest love story wrapped in danger, romance, passion and tragedy is told through breathtaking 20th century dance in Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s extravagant production of Romeo & Juliet at QPAC.

MacMillan’s production of Romeo & Juliet tells a very human story with a sense of intimacy. From a lethal marketplace brawl to the blissful balcony pas de deux, the production’s realistic and daring choreography translates a feeling of rawness, truth and emotion. Guest performers Carlos Acosta, Steven McRae and Tamara Rojo will dance alongside acclaimed Australian Ballet principal artist Daniel Gaudiello as Mercutio and former principal Steven Heathcote as Lord Capulet, who will join the main cast for a handful of selected performances.

Celebrating the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s play and the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Romeo & Juliet ballet, Queensland Ballet will be the first company in Australia to present the celebrated work. Romeo & Juliet will run June 27 to July 5 at QPAC.
