QUT Theatre Republic charms at Brisbane Festival

In its starry outdoor lounge and bar setting, QUT Theatre Republic will feature an assortment of engaging performances spanning high camp, rock ’n’ roll cabaret and erotic finger puppetry genres throughout September.

From September 10–28, Brisbane Festival patrons will be treated to sharp performances at the QUT Theatre Republic cultural hub in QUT’s Creative Industries Precinct at Kelvin Grove. In a Queensland premiere, Psycho Beach Party follows schizophrenic Chicklet, a Gidget-inspired nerd who dreams of surfing. Then, in an unorthodox performance, Zoey Dawson premieres her play The Unspoken Word is ‘Joe’ to Brisbane crowds.

Throughout the festival, visitors to the venue will witness unique performances in Cut Snake, Hello my name is, Insomnia Cat Came To Stay, Dandyman and The Men My Mother Loved. Audiences are also destined to remember When Claude met Roxy – an erotic finger puppetry performance – and the immersive production of Bonemap.
