Prove your worth with the Queensland Music Awards

The reality of a musician’s life is too much for many to bear, with its inconsistent hours and inability to provide any kind of promise of success after years of hard work. But for those who are passionate about music and its creation, it remains the only type of career choice.

If you are one of the many talented songwriters and passionate musicians of Queensland, you are eligible to enter the 2013 Queensland Music Awards. Awards are up for grabs within the fields of songwriting and musicianship, with past winners from the multiple categories including Hungry Kids of Hungary, Kate Miller-Heidke, The Grates and Cub Scouts.

Applications for 2013’s awards have just opened and will be accepted until April 22. Both published and unpublished original songwriters are encouraged to enter their creations into one of the many categories available, including urban, folk/singer-songwriter, jazz, world, pop and rock. The actual judging process is a lengthy one that involves music industry professionals (such as managers, label directors and publishers) each listening to the song and deeming its worth. Those who wish to apply for this year’s Queensland Music Awards can do so online.
