Peek inside some of Brisbane’s finest homes

Though we may hate to admit it, there’s a little voyeuristic streak hiding within most of us. Put yours to good use at the NOT FOR SALE: architects @ home event on the public holiday of Monday October 7.

You know those gorgeous, architecturally designed houses you drive past on your way home from work and ogle at a distance? Well the Australian Institute of Architects and SPACE Property Agents are now giving you permission to step inside and admire the handiwork up close at the free NOT FOR SALE: architects @ home event on the public holiday of Monday October 7. The architect of each building will be in attendance to give a guided tour and discuss his or her work, while also sharing innovative ideas for appropriating our buildings to maximise living in the sub-tropics. Tour local buildings including the Hill End Ecohouse, New Farm Studio, Princhester Studios in West End, Wilson House in Kenmore Hills and the Lighthouse in Bardon. Find the full list of Brisbane homes online.

Monday will also mark World Architecture Day and the start of Architecture Week Queensland, so treat your architect guide to a hug and take a moment to stop and think about the remarkable buildings we work, play and live in every day. The week-long celebration comprises several other events around Brisbane – check out the full program here.
