Moonlight Cinema Brisbane

Savour summer evenings with a Moonlight Cinema screening

Long gone are the days of crowded cinemas with seats stained from years of popcorn and frozen Coke spills – now you can enjoy an evening film accompanied by the light of the silvery moon. The return of Moonlight Cinema around the country is the perfect way to celebrate the balmy Australian summer, swapping your couch for a comfy beanbag on the grass.

Moonlight Cinema will screen movies from the lawns of New Farm Park alongside Brisbane Powerhouse. You’ll find a collection of advance previews, as well as contemporary, classic and plenty of cult (including The Breakfast Club) films on show for the enjoyment of local film lovers. The screenings will span the length of summer, from December 13 to February 24.

When it comes to getting comfy during the film, there are a limited number of bean beds for hire for $7. Or feel free to bring your own accumulation of cushions, blankets, beach chairs or rugs to settle in for the summer’s eve.

To help increase your viewing pleasure is the presence of a colourful snack and candy bar, stocked with a range of Americana delights. Tuck into chilli dogs, fries, pulled pork, coleslaw and plenty of chocolately treats. There’s also a licensed bar to replace your regular soft drink with a sip of Norfold Pinot Grigio or Bulmers Original Cider.

You will find the full program online, including recent releases Looper, The Intouchables and Savages, with tickets able to be bought in advance.
