Thousands prepare to Light the Night for a good cause

The Leukaemia Foundation’s Light the Night encourages everyone to participate to help raise awareness for blood cancers.

In Australia, more than 60,000 people are currently living with a blood cancer of some variety. Leukaemia, lymphoma or myelomas are some of the common strains of cancers that affect many each year, with over 30 people diagnosed with a disease each day. On October 9, the South Bank Cultural Forecourt will be illuminated by thousands of lanterns as Brisbane gathers for Light the Night 2015.

Currently in its eighth year, Light the Night aims to improve awareness of the plight of sufferers of blood cancer and to raise funds for research and to help families affected by the disorder. Attendees will light a gold lantern to signify remembering a lost loved one, white to show that they are currently embarking on their own journey or a blue lantern to show they care. Head to the Light the Night website to find out more about the event and how you can register.
