He Died With a Felafel in his Hand, the 1994 lad lit book that scored itself a cult following, is coming to the stage during October, when John Birmingham’s debut novel will appear at Brisbane Powerhouse. Encounter freaks, geeks, gamers, stoners, losers and junkies as John shifts his milk crates from one grungy sharehouse to another. The production, which will run from October 1–5, will tell the perilous tales of sharing spaces, facing run-ins with the law, dealing with grotty flatmates and confronting life’s challenges.
