Prepare yourself for wine in abundance at Game of Rhones

In the HBO television series Game of Thrones, armies fight over land and riches. In the Game of Rhones, wineries will fight over your tastebuds.

The verdant vale of the Rhone Valley in France is a storied region, where grapes grow in abundance and the richest wines are created. Game of Rhones is a touring celebration of the grape varietals that have emerged from the fabled Rhone Valley – such grapes are responsible for the creation of Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, Marsanna and Roussane, among others. On Sunday May 29, LightSpace will play host to 40 of some of Australia and New Zealand’s best wine producers, showcasing more than 100 wines and a great helping of food to keep stomachs lined.

Producers on hand at Game of Rhones in 2016 include the likes of Shaw + Smith, Yarra Yering, Tarrawarra Estate, Henschke and Brown Brothers. Patrons are encouraged to head to the Rhone Bar to sample some of the best wines under the guidance of some knowledgeable sommeliers before casing their vote for Peoples Choice. Ben Williamson from Gerard’s Bistro will be taking care of the food for the day, while PLUMM glasses will be offering some fantastic door prizes. For ticket information and a full list of what to expect, head to the Game of Rhones website.
