Brisbane kicks off three-week G20 Cultural Celebrations

A massive program of free music and arts events will stretch from the inner city to the suburbs as the Queensland Government launches the G20 Cultural Celebrations in Brisbane tomorrow.

The G20 Leaders’ Summit will be rolling in to Brisbane on Saturday November 15 and Sunday November 16, resulting in a public holiday for Brisbane workers on Friday November 14 and a spectacular program of free cultural events in the lead-up to the conference. Kicking off tomorrow, Friday October 24 and running until Sunday November 16, Brisbane’s G20 Cultural Celebrations will see live music, interactive lighting displays, dance and circus performances, visual art and community events popping up in venues and public spaces around Brisbane.

Highly anticipated light and projection installation Colour Me Brisbane will illuminate the city from 6:00 pm–11:00 pm every night from tomorrow until Sunday November 9. Follow the online Walking Trail to soak up this multi-dimensional experience and don’t miss out on the opportunity to splash coloured lights across iconic buildings as part of Paint Your City. Live music events like The Long Player Sessions and Trade Winds Beach Party are sure to keep toes tapping across Brisbane, while Fiesta Latina, Brisbane on Parade and the Small Batch Brisbane laneway food-truck party will have you beaming with local pride. Check out the full program of events and our interview with creative director Jono Perry online.
