If you’ve earmarked GOMA’s breathtaking new exhibition Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion as a must-see, you’d best add its accompanying pop-up shop as a must-buy.

Christmas may have just passed, but those who were disappointed by Santa’s lack of generosity this year can swing by the Future Beauty Pop-Up Shop and stock up on what they really wanted. Nestled in the GOMA foyer, the temporary retail space is celebrating the gallery’s brilliant exhibition Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion with a large range of merchandise, gifts and Japanese art and fashion books. The official exhibition publication Future Beauty is also available for purchase in the GOMA pop-up shop or online. The hardcover tome was compiled by a team of experts led by eminent fashion historian Akiko Fukai and explores the individuality and vibrancy of Japanese design through more than 250 photographs and sketches.

In a major coup for the gallery, cult Japanese label Comme des Garçons has also opened its first Queensland retail space, as well as its first dedicated store within a gallery environment. The pop-up entitled Pocket is selling the label’s iconic Play line, as well as fragrances and wallets. Catch the Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion exhibition before it closes on Sunday February 15.
