First Aid Kit’s country-tinted vocals woo crowds to The Zoo
If the woodsy tunes of Swedish sister duo First Aid Kit are yet to captivate your attention, now is the time to make them very familiar.
Post-European tour and appearances at Adelaide’s Womad Festival and Meredith’s Golden Plains, Joanna and Klara Söderberg are playing at Fortitude Valley’s sweaty-but-much-loved The Zoo this weekend as part of their highly awaited Australian tour.
With the release of their second album, The Lion’s Roar, still fresh on record players and iPods everywhere, these indie-country musicians will perform their dreamy harmonies and timeless songwriting in Brisbane, before slipping into a much-needed 13-hour sleep on their way to grace stages in the US.
Following their debut self-produced album The Big Black & The Blue (2010), comes this folk-influenced juxtaposition of beauty and sadness – a dazzling expression of their growing maturity as artists since their internet-fame days covering Fleet Foxes’ ‘Tiger Mountain Peasant Song’.
Produced by Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes fame, First Aid Kit’s The Lion’s Roar features contributions by Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst and New York’s The Felice Brothers.
