TWE Colombian Independence Day Street Festival

Celebrate Brisbane’s first Colombian Independence Day Street Festival

A traditional Latin fiesta will be bursting on to Brisbane’s streets this Sunday, as the Colombian Independence Day Street Festival launches for the first time in Fortitude Valley.

Fill your face with empanadas, enjoy a swig of Colombian beer and get those limbs shaking at the Colombian Independence Day Street Festival this Sunday July 20. The gates will open at 12:00 pm and the punters will flood in to Ballow Street in Fortitude Valley for a festive street party to commemorate Colombia’s uprising against Spanish rule on July 20, 1810. Following the overwhelming success of GPO’s Casa Latina events, the street festival will see the local Colombian community and Brisbane residents coming together for a joyous all-ages celebration of music, food and culture.

The first Colombian Independence Day Street Festival will see local bands filling the streets with live music, salsa teachers guiding keen accomplices, DJs keeping the crowd dancing, and plenty of food and drink stalls to maintain energy levels. The event will be hosted by Kip and Luttsy from Nova and Colombian ambassador Daniela Pinoa. Children under the age of 12 are free, but all others can purchase their tickets online via Moshtix.
