Brisbane Cabaret Festival

Discover theatrical celebrations at Brisbane Cabaret Festival

The cabaret world of song and dance is one that is beloved by audiences across the world, and has a growing community in Brisbane. In ode to the performers (both national and international) who dedicate their life to the art form, the colourful Brisbane Cabaret Festival has arrived in town.

Originally launched in 2000, Brisbane Cabaret Festival will run this year from October 25 right through to November 11. Not only are the festivities a celebration of the performers in the industry, but a showcase for both established and new talents to reveal their skills to a Queensland audience.A huge range of acts are involved in the sweep of performances of the genre, including those of comedy, dance, burlesque and song. Drop in at one of the festival’s acts and you’ll spy appearances from the likes of Brendan Maclean, Tripod, Courtney Act and The Kransky Sisters.

While cabaret in Queensland today is a spirited and passionate genre, those at its core have worked long and hard to find their audience. The inception of the Brisbane Cabaret Festival is helping to improve the understanding of cabaret in the state, as well as increase dedicated venues and encourage even more innovation in the field.
