Bird Gallery and Studio

Discover new Bird Gallery and Studio in Brisbane City

Creating a space where artists of all genres can practise and exhibit, while also fostering the local creative culture to grow Brisbane’s artistic community spirit, is new inner-city space Bird Gallery and Studio.

Sharing the off-laneway real estate with Bean. coffee nook behind 181 George Street, Bird Gallery and Studio is a versatile artist space showcasing local and touring artists, as well as providing support for emerging artists. By day, visitors can browse the current exhibition on show before enjoying a Campos coffee and slice of avo on toast from Bean., while by night the space is available to hire.

With the aim to collaborate with local, interstate and international artists and curators in the creation of stand-alone artworks, exhibitions and workshops, Bird Gallery and Studio encourages diverse thinking and ideas. Transitioning between a photography studio, performing-arts rehearsal studio, live-music venue and workshop space, this hidden laneway lair is an adaptable hub of artistic endeavours.

Currently on show is a retro television installation by emerging visual artist Forbes McKail and a photography exhibition by one of Bird’s co-founders, Kahlia Litzow.
