Help grow the Bike-In-Theatre community

Remember the good old days of the drive-in theatre, where you could wear pyjamas in public, eat popcorn and burgers for dinner, lie on a mattress in the boot of your parent’s station wagon and watch a few movies, quite often involving Lassie? Putting a modern twist on the classic drive-in are two American folk Jason Anello and Anna Boyarsky.

Lovers of bikes, films and food, they combined their passions for the first time last year to create a pop-up bike-in-theatre on one balmy summer evening along the Brooklyn waterfront. Hundreds of people rode in on their splendid bicycles, munched on snacks from food blog and supper club Forking Tasty – including five types of gourmet-flavoured popcorn – and soaked up a 1980s film.

With plans to expand to a bi-coastal tour of San Francisco and New York City this summer, Anna and Jason are using Kickstarter to help fund their dream. Pledge some spare change before the cut-off tonight and, who knows, perhaps the pair will bring one out our way.
