Babushka: Doll brings adult playtime to the Judith Wright Centre

Babushka: Doll brings adult playtime to the Judith Wright Centre

They’re alive! Dolls comes out to play in this cute yet dark musical comedy from Babushka.

Quirky musical group Babushka invites cabaret fans to enjoy the glitter fest that is its new show, Doll. A mash-up of musical comedy, show-goers can expect to be wowed by an eclectic playlist of original arrangements based on 1980s pop, rock, nursery rhymes, hip-hop, and a touch of opera thrown in for good measure.

But don’t let the name fool you, for Doll is a very grown-up playdate indeed. From voodoo dolls, blow-up dolls, Bratz, Ken and Barbie, and the Cabbage Patch Kids, nothing is sacred as the Babushkas use their Polly Pocket pipes to poke fun and touch on universal themes like consumerism and feminism. Babushka: Doll is playing at the Judith Wright Centre until May 23. Book your tickets online.
