All-ages Street Soundzzz celebrates 40 years of 4ZZZ radio

Independent community radio station 4ZZZ is hosting a youth open day in Fortitude Valley this weekend.

It’s hard to believe there was once a time without Brisbane community radio broadcaster 4ZZZ. To celebrate 40 years on the airwaves and the station’s tireless support of the local music scene, a youth open day will be held this Saturday April 18. Head along to the station’s headquarters on Barry Parade in Fortitude Valley between 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm to browse market stalls, grab a bite to eat, join a workshop and listen to live music.

4ZZZ Street Soundzzz will also be holding backstage tours every hour on the hour, which will take participants behind the scenes to check out the station’s massive music library and on-air studios. Join a creative workshop to find out how to submit music to the station for airplay, while also gaining information on how you can help out at the station. The all-ages event will also see local acts like The Paper Tigers, The Eagle Junction, Asha Jefferies, Concrete Surfers and a specially selected under-18 band performing live, as well as art from local high school students on display.
