Brisbane. The wait is finally over. Pottery Barn and west elm are officially here. No longer will you shed a tear as your friends from southern states brag about their amazing soft furnishings and homewares – now you have access to the full range, right here in Fortitude Valley.

Today, Thursday October 1, marks the official opening day for international retailer Williams-Sonoma, Inc. to open the doors of its first Queensland stores for Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids and west elm. Positioned at 19 Wandoo Street, the three stores will sit side by side, occupying a total of 2310 square metres of retail space. The highly anticipated opening is being celebrated with a bang, with Brisbane-based photographer and stylist Kara Rosenlund guest hosting the day, Brisbane designer and letterer Jasmine Dowling creating limited-edition west elm tote bags for the first 300 customers, coffee and bespoke cookies from The Sugar Hit!’s Sarah Coates for Pottery Barn customers, and a crafting event led by Kara Hynes from Lulu Lucky at Pottery Barn Kids.

The three stores are inter-connected, with each catering to differing styles and tastes. Founded on the idea that home furnishings should be exceptional in comfort, quality, style and value, Pottery Barn is at the core of the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. brand. The Brisbane store reflects this ethos, and features in-store destinations dedicated to living spaces inside and outside the home to inspire customers, as well as feature walls and retail-focused areas to display the range of furnishings, homewares, lighting, accessories and more. At the centre of the store sits the Design Studio, which allows customers to plan their space with specially trained in-house design specialists. Its mini counterpart, Pottery Barn Kids, is dedicated to children’s furniture and products, with everything from nursery furniture to bathroom accessories, toys and backpacks. west elm was founded in Brooklyn, New York, in 2003, and is committed to fair-trade certified, local and handcrafted products. Its collection spans furniture, rugs, lighting, accessories, bed linen and more, and melds clean lines with natural materials to create modern and affordable designs. The Brisbane store also offers complimentary design services.
