Eldorado Cinema development to enliven Indooroopilly

Memories of cheap Tuesday tickets, popcorn fights and post-movie Cold Rock will no longer be sparked by the first step into the ageing Eldorado 8 Cinema, with the property set for redevelopment.

The owner of the cinema complex has submitted a development application, proposing to build a new mixed-use site, which will incorporate two residential towers, a bowling alley, sky bar, retail opportunities, and an open-air cinema along with an expansion to the current filmic offering. Set across from Indooroopilly Station, the development keeps the local cinema experience at the heart of its plans with improvements aimed at transforming the corner complex into the go-to entertainment precinct for the inner-western suburbs.

The new look will also sate movie-goers’ need for parking in the area, with an eight-level basement car park. The two residential towers will sit at 16 and 21 storeys, with a rooftop podium between the two towers housing an open-air cinema. Along with the developments and new dining pockets at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, this entertainment hub will revitalise the streetscape, create further ground-level retail shopfronts and draw more patronage to the area.
