There’s strings attached at The Harbinger at La Boite

Contrary to what some may believe, puppetry was not born in the district of Sesame Street, nor the land of The Muppets, rather it’s been a form of performance art since 3000 BC. Since then, puppets have transformed into a slew of different shapes and sizes, from the intricate shadow creations of the Balinese, to the comically colourful hand puppets of Punch and Judy from the UK.

The Harbinger is one stage show that embraces the world of puppetry, in combination with a cast of living, breathing humans. The show utilises enormous puppetry that is far more advanced than your average felt finger friend.

Audience members can expect to witness a blend of giant props, incredible stage illusion and traditional storytelling. Sitting down in La Boite’s Roundhouse Theatre, the audience will be transported to a world far from the sunny streets of Brisbane, to one where the city is in the midst of a civil war. Amongst the violence, mystery messages and propaganda are descending on the lampposts around the town – urging for hope and news of a hero who is rumoured to be on his way. See The Harbinger at La Boite from August 11 to September 1.
