Enjoy old-school Euro vibes and stellar drops at Fortitude Valley’s Mosconi Restaurant & Wine Bar

Brothers Daniel and Mark Rotolone are two culinary figures that would be familiar to patrons of New Farm’s Vine Restaurant. The Moray Street eatery is known for its flavoursome take on modern Italian, earning a cult following since opening its doors in 2005. Mosconi Restaurant & Wine Bar is the Rotolone’s newest venture – an intimate and beautifully appointed dining destination sitting snugly on Arthur Street. Mosconi is now open, and is pairing its smart interpretation of European fare with some truly excellent wines. more

An iconic Australian artist celebrated – QAG debuts the first-ever Dick Roughsey retrospective

For countless Australian children, their first introduction to the rich and vibrant world of Aboriginal storytelling has no doubt been through the tale of The Rainbow Serpent. However, many people wouldn’t be able to tell you off the top of their head who was responsible for the breathtaking illustrations that adorned the 1975 edition of the book that is still so loved – his name is Goobalathaldin Dick Roughsey, and his body of work extends far beyond the pages of children’s books. Queensland Art Gallery has assembled a major retrospective of Dick’s incredible art – in a world first, you can witness Stories of this Land as told by one of our country’s finest. more

From vineyard to The Valley – Gerler Wines officially unveils City Winery

The finest wines aren’t the ones with an exorbitant price tag. Rather, the best drops are ones that have a story to tell. Gerler Wines is all about telling stories – from that of its namesake inspiration Carl Gerler to the finer details of the grapes it sources – and the boutique winemaker’s latest project is shaping up to be a significant chapter in its own right. Opening today, City Winery is the result of a three-year process to bring boutique winemaking into Brisbane’s inner city. The micro-winery-cum-restaurant is not only an eye-catching spot for sampling Gerler wines and hearty fare, but also an opportunity for wine lovers to learn about the winemaking process, while simultaneously demystifying the industry for newcomers. more
